General Sessions

The Aftermath: Critical Incident Recovery

Church safety and security ministries should examine ways to prepare, prevent, respond and recover from a variety of incident types. This session focuses on the importance of having a critical incident recovery planning. We will examine both short term and long term recovery needs allowing you to consider ways your ministry may be impacted in the aftermath of a critical incident. How do you reunite children with their families? Do you have plans for continuity of services? What partnerships have you formed with other ministries, government entities, and nonprofits? Who will provide spiritual care for the congregation if leadership is impacted by the incident? We will discuss these questions and more in this session.

                                                                                                                                                Christopher Taylor, M.A., M.Ed., M.Div.

The Importance of Ministry in

Security Team Training

There is a consistent and necessary tension between providing a safe environment for worship with the balance of ministry in mind. This session will focus on the importance of operating your church security ministry with a ministry first focus while still providing professional security operations to defend the flock. What does it mean to serve in a security context? How do we approach ministry with a security mindset while still reaching the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ?
